Vernon Smith

New Orleans artist Vernon Smith has drawn a bunch of comic books and children’s books for a bunch of different publishers. He started out self-publishing comics like “The Adventures Of Dexter Breakfast” and “Return Of The Lovin Dead” through Diamond Distribution and later “Bigfoot Frankenstein” through Action Lab Comics, before working on children’s books like the super adorable “The Littlest Streetcar” through Pelican Publishing.

Then in 2023 he was hired by IDW as a Cover Artist for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures! In 2024 the dream came true: Star Trek. Illustrating the Strange New Worlds story in Star Trek Issue #500! The dream job continued in 2025 and 2026 when he was hired to draw Issues 9-10 and 13-18 of Star Trek Lower Decks! Covers and interior pages, the whole shebang! Which then led to illustrating a poster for the Doug Drexler documentary: Trek Star! He spends his free time trying to figure out how to succinctly wrap up a convention bio he’s currently writing.
